Moka blend: how to choose the right coffee
The aroma that fills the kitchen and the first cup of the day: for those who love the Italian moka pot, choosing a moka blend means starting with taste, but also with the grind. The Caffè Sansone Moka Blend is a medium-roasted blend designed for this daily ritual.
Here you will find the aromatic profile, the differences between the variants, and some practical tips for choosing the right package for your moka pot. Want to try it? Start with the 250 g size and select “Ground for Moka”.

What does the Caffè Sansone Moka Blend taste like?
The blend is composed of 70% Arabica and 30% Robusta. The profile described on the product page evokes chocolate, roasted hazelnut, and caramel, with floral nuances and an aftertaste of cocoa and sweet spices. The body is full and round, with an intensity rated 4/5.
It is a great option if you are looking for an enveloping coffee to prepare at home. The aromatic notes are tasting references, not added ingredients: they describe the sensations to explore while tasting.
Medium roast and choosing coffee for the moka pot
Our Moka Blend is offered with a medium roast, Medium Roast. The product page describes an artisanal small-batch roast, controlled during processing and followed by air cooling.
Roasting contributes to the blend's character, but to get a cup you will enjoy, the grind, water, heat, and cleanliness of the moka pot also matter. There is no need to follow an identical recipe for every moka pot: start with the instructions from your moka pot manufacturer and observe the result.
Which grind should I choose before purchasing?
In the current product variants, you will find two options: Ground for Moka and Ground for Napoletana. Select them based on the moka pot you use, without considering them interchangeable.
Ground for Moka
This is the variant to choose for the classic moka pot. It is practical if you do not own a coffee grinder and want a product already ground for this method. Check the wording in the selector before adding it to your cart.
Ground for Napoletana
This is the option intended for the Napoletana moka pot, or cuccumella. If you use this method, select the dedicated variant instead of automatically ordering the one for moka.
Choose the grind suitable for your moka pot.
250 g, 500 g, or 1 kg: which size should I buy?
The sizes available in the catalog are 250 g, 500 g, and 1 kg. For your first purchase, we recommend 250 g: you can get to know the blend and try it with your moka pot before moving on to a larger package.
The 500 g size is an intermediate solution for regular consumption. The 1 kg size is worth considering if you often prepare coffee or share it with several people. Choose based on how long it takes you to finish the package, not just on the quantity purchased.
On the Moka Blend product page, you will find updated prices and availability for every combination of size and grind.
How to prepare coffee with a moka pot
Before starting, make sure the moka pot is clean and in good condition and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Our product page recommends cold water, a filter filled without pressing, and medium-low heat.
- Prepare the reservoir. Add water up to the level indicated for your moka pot, without covering the safety valve.
- Fill the filter. Distribute the coffee ground for moka without compressing it and leave the edges clean before screwing it on.
- Use moderate heat. Avoid a flame that wraps around the sides of the moka pot and monitor the preparation without leaving it unattended.
- Stop heating. Remove the moka pot from the heat when the flow becomes irregular and gurgling begins, paying attention to hot surfaces.
- Stir and serve. Gently stir the coffee in the collector before pouring it to even out the beverage.
Moka pot coffee is not identical to espresso: do not expect the same crema. Focus on the taste and, if you wish to adjust it, change only one variable at a time.
Do you also need a moka pot? Discover the Caffè Sansone Black Moka
You can pair the blend with the Caffè Sansone Black Moka, an aluminum moka pot with a matte black finish. On the product page, you will find the 1- and 3-cup variants.
The indicated compatibility includes gas and electric burners and cast-iron plates. If you have an induction cooktop, do not assume that this compatibility includes it: check the suitability before purchasing.
Discover the Black Moka and choose the capacity. The blend and the moka pot are separate products: check what you are adding to your cart.
How to store the blend after opening
Close the package tightly and store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and heat sources. If you alternate different coffees or prepare only a few cups, consider a smaller size to manage the opened product more easily.
